Brendan Evans
Tiento – Debut Album of Solo Classical Guitar
Releasing January 30, 2026
Green Flash Music is pleased to announce that classical guitarist Brendan Evans is set to release his debut solo album Tiento on January 30, marking a milestone in a journey that blends meticulous artistry, thoughtful collaboration, and personal perseverance. The project is being released with support from Green Flash Music, the independent music label founded by Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated composer John Finbury, who has long been a champion of cross-genre musical expression.
Tiento showcases Evans’ refined masterful technique and musical voice in the classical guitar tradition, while reflecting a deep personal commitment to craft and authenticity. The release will be celebrated with a fundraiser and launch event on January 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Society in Rockport Massachusetts.
The album’s title, Tiento, references a Spanish musical form from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The Tiento is known for its introspective quality and improvisatory character—traits that resonate with the atmosphere of Evans’ interpretations. In choosing this title, Evans signals a connection to classical tradition while asserting a uniquely personal voice within it.
Produced in Collaboration with Green Flash Music
Tiento is being released in partnership with Green Flash Music, a label known for its devotion to artist-centered, collaborative projects that span jazz, classical, and Brazilian music. Founded by John Finbury, whose own catalog includes Grammy nominated works in Latin Jazz and chamber jazz idioms, Green Flash Music provides a home for John’s music and now proudly adds Brendan’s debut album to it’s catalogue.
For Finbury, supporting Tiento is a natural extension of his commitment to music that prioritizes depth, quality, and artistic integrity. The label’s involvement ensures that Tiento is not just a self-produced release, but a professionally supported project that will reach a wider audience of guitar lovers, classical music listeners, and independent music communities.
Behind the Scenes: Film and Photography
To complement the album, Evans worked with a thoughtful team of visual collaborators, including filmmaker Ken Kinna of B-Roll Films and photographer Joan Boivin. Their work helps translate the quiet intensity of Brendan’s playing into visual form. (See Vimeo link below).
Their sensitivity to Brendan’s personality and musical focus allowed for a presentation that feels natural, understated, and authentic—qualities that reflect both the music itself and the spirit of the broader project.
Fundraising and Community Support
As with many independent music projects, Tiento has also relied on community support. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help offset the costs associated with professional recording, production, design, and promotion. Friends, family, fans, and fellow musicians have already begun contributing to the campaign, showing the strong base of support behind Evans’ debut.
The fundraiser release party on January 18 is not only a celebration of the album’s completion but a chance for supporters to come together in person and experience the music live. Taking place at the Rockport Unitarian Universalist Society, the event offers a warm, community-oriented setting for this intimate music.
A Call for Listeners and Reviewers
In a heartfelt message on social media, Evans extended an invitation to anyone who may be interested in writing about the album or helping it gain exposure. “If anyone knows any reviewers, or wants to write a review themselves, please reach out,” he wrote.
In today’s crowded musical landscape, independent artists rely on word-of-mouth, reviews, and listener engagement to help their work find an audience. For those who appreciate classical guitar, meditative music, or debut artists making an honest and elegant entrance into the recording world, Tiento offers a rewarding listening experience—and an artist well worth supporting.
